08 Cooper warranty matters.
Discussion
My wife took her 08 Cooper to the dealer today for a couple of warranty matters.
1. Knocking noise from under the rear of the car - Rear anti roll bar bushes had gone. They have been replaced.
Rather surprised at this as the car has covered less than 8k miles.
2. Intermittent fading of fuel gauge illumination/heater fan losing power. With regard to this we were informed that this was `normal'. Also, rather surprised at this response. Never had such issues with her previous (04) Cooper.
Any one here had similar issues? Particularly with second matter.

Hi,
I dont think you are the first to have the anti roll bars replaced. As for the fuel gauge dimming that is normal... and yes they all do it. There is a light sensor in the rev counter, If you cover this with your hand and then move your hand away - you will see the gauge change its brightness.
For the heater not heard of any problems sorry. What is it doing or not doing?
:-)

Fuel gauge illumination is dimming intermittently during normal driving. Heater fan momentarily slows before resuming normal power again during normal driving. Both are intermittent and I thought may be due to a related wiring/connectivity problem. Was surprised when told that this was normal. It is as if both are momentarily suffering from a reduction in power. I dont think you are the first to have the anti roll bars replaced. The fuel gauge will change how bright it is on the conditions of the light in the cabin. Bright during the day, dimmer at night as not to dazzle. Although you do notice it change during the day as light can change dramatically in the cabin. I've not heard of any issues with heater tho. Hope you get it sorted.
