But if you cut the fuel tax, people will start buying those gas guzzling big cars like Jaguars and Land Rovers that the Govt. had to bail out.

I just know that somewhere in the government someone is saying " Well we didn't actually want you to stop buying the cars we were trying to stop you from buying"

There is/was no "bail out" of JLR. JLR simply want a commercial loan. They can't get that from the banks because they are not lending. FFS you're as bad as the media. rolleyes
