LE Griff on OZ split rims... same size all round?
Discussion
A classified in last month's Sprint for a set of 16" OZ split rims off a Griff LE with a link to a piccy with them on (no reply to my email enquiry, so I guess they're sold then) made me think... were they the exact same wheels (width/ET value) front and rear? And what was the OE tyre fitment?
I'm asking because the OZ split rims on my '93 Chim 430 could do with a refurb, but as there are no mobile wheel services here in The Netherlands, anyway that would involve puttingmy car on four crates for a week or so which I'm reluctant to do... someone told me they could find two 16" OZ split rims for me a few weeks ago (related to a brake upgrade query, although I don't want to go as big on the front brakes to require 16" anyway) and as my rear tyres need replacing soon-ish I thought I could kill two birds with one stone by getting a pair of rear wheels, have the new tyres mounted on those, then have the wheels that came off the rear refurbed and use them with new tyres on the front?
What's the handling/ride with 16" all round like, anyway, compared to 15" fronts? I guess Toyo T1Rs would be the preferred tyre when going 16" front and rear? Oh, and I seem to remember that I'd need some rubber stops on the steering rack to avoid the wheels fouling the inner bodywork on full lock?

Up until a couple of weeks ago,he still had them as i enquired about them, sent me a couple of pics of the wheels which needed a decent clean up if not a refurb,a few scrapes here and there etc.... they are as far as im aware the same wheels all round, width et .... didnt fancy them in the end,he might still have them as they have been advertised a while,i have 16" all round but non standard wheels,225 front and 245 rear bridgestones tyres, unfortunatly i have only ever driven my Griff so cannot give a comparision on the way it drives or handles, feels fine to me though compared to my other car.
Thanks very much!
I emailed them about three weeks ago - guess they don't want to sell to overseas buyers then which is fair enough (although I'd have picked up the wheels myself it needs be) - by the sounds of it they're not that much better than mine (v. tatty, but undamaged) anyway.

I've got 16" Estorils all round and IMO they improved the handling. 4 new Toyos all round at thesame time and the car is definitely less prone to understeering and feels a lot more 'planted'. I didn't find any major issues with fouling of the suspension but it did need a couple of small rack stops to prevent the O/S wheel catching on full lock. If the steering rack is centered exactly then you'll have no issues at all.
Hi,
Just over here from the Chim forum (Sorry
) and like V8 GRF I've the same set up along with big discs and Tuscan calipers. Like V8 GRF I've fitted the rack stops as I was getting a small amount of chassis rub on the near side. Fitting the rack stops is simplictity itself
, drop the front wheels, drop a gaitor one at each time then twist and slip the stops on to the rack. No need for track arm removal as the stops are manufactured with a split so it can twist towards an 'S' looking shape which slips over the rack.
Steering turn lock no real noticable difference though it's now more point and shoot into corners using 16" on all corners.
Next big bank raid will be Nitrons.
Cheers

The chap who’s selling them is the same guy who bought my Estorils after I bought new wheels.
If you look at the email address, the domain name is the name of the company. Google that and you get a transport company in Bath.
It’s family owned and the guy selling them is Chris, he’s a director and one of the family who own the firm.
