Hi All,

Off skiing in Chatel next week and looking for a few tips about the place. Anyone got any good bars, restaurants, tips on local transport, runs, things for kids to do, etc. We are staying in a village called Abondance just down the road so anyone been there that will be helpfull too.

Ta very much
Pete

Skied in to Chatel from Avoriaz last year - excellent ski area, but with only one day I can't answer any of your questions - sorry!

Will be there again next month so will be watching for tips...smile

I skied there from about the age of 4 staying at the 'Fleur de Neige'. Unfortunately I haven't been there for at least seven years and was never really old enough to go and explore the bars. If there is still a restaurant at the FdN hotel I highly recommend it. It is still owned by the same family as when I started going, but unfortunately the option of evening meals for guests isn't there any more, or so i've been told. I don't know if that means the restaurant has gone too. The food was absolutely superb.

The skiing is/was great though. I highly recommend 'Pres la Joux', which you get to on a road to the south west once you're in Châtel. The runs there are expansive and superb, and in my view a bit more interesting than Super Châtel. You may have to extend your pass to include it, but i'm not sure about that.

Enjoy, I really miss it.
