OK, had a chance to have a look at the kit I bought and the 500's headlights...upshot is that if it is poissible, it's not gping to be easy.

The kit comes as a plug-and-play setup. Swap the standard H7 bulb with the HID bulb and connect the wires to the existing connectors.

Difference here is that the Fiat 500 doesn't use standard H7 wiring...

If anyone has any ideas...let me know!

Umm right basically you see the black connecter the bulb plugs into?
Unplug the bulb. You then plug the two flat pin plugs into the socket that the bulb was plugged into. Connect everything else up and bobs your uncle.

I just recently fitted an identical kit to my a4 and when i first looked in the box and at the instructions my brain just went "DUH!!!"

It looks almost identical to the one I recently fitted in my BMW, the spades plug into the plug on the car where the standard bulb would go. Use a volt meter to find out with is +/- unless it is marked.

That black connector that the bulb plugs into...that's the clip that holds the bulb in place, so if I swap that for the HID wiring, there's nothing holding the bulb in place...

so the springs press onto the black plastic connector and not on the metal lip of the bulb?!

Do you have headlamp levelling and wash/wipe etc? I thought these were a pre-requisite for HID to be legal (according to the 'interpretation' that VOSA took to allow aftermarket fitment).

No, the 500 doesnt come with such a system. You are also required to have a battery disconnection feature that cuts the power in the event of an accident, which the 500 doesnt have either.
Ah. Probably best not ask whether the conversion being attempted is legal under the construction and use regs then, in case we get the wrong answer.

And I hope they are H7R bulbs if the headlamp unit is a reflector... otherwise you'll be blinding everyone and everything.
