... if there is no punishment for underage children getting pregnant/having sex?

All you hear in the paper is teenage mums and 12 year olds having sex etc. These teenagers are illegally having sex and allowed to have children, so why is there no punishment?

I understand and agree with the idea of someone older than 16 having sex with someone under the age of consent but whats the point if its ok for someone under the age of 16 to have sex anyway?

because they are both underage. which one do you charge?

If the father whoever he may be is older than 16 he may well be charged.

Well, I'd like to think it makes the peado's at least think twice about it, thats for sure.

As Pesty says though, in this case, who do you charge?

Although with her moral compass, probably every lad between 13-18 in about 3 postcodes.

Charge them both, they are both breaking the law. But as I said, why punish someone over 16 when its fine if they are under 16? Not that im saying its right for say a 30 year old to sleep with a 12 year old.

Binning that law would make it legal for an adult to screw a minor.

Surely not what we want.....?

It will still happen regardless. Obviously that would need to be addressed, but I highly doubt your average paedo, is worried whether he is breaking the age laws when he rapes a girl that he has just kidnapped.

Because if one party is over 16 then there can be issues about an older person taking advantage of a younger person etc etc. If it's a couple of 14 year olds going at it then it is there choice. A stupid one, but their choice. But if it's a 28 year old a 14 year old then there are some issues.

But on that note, why is it legal for 16 year olds to have sex but not to watch people having sex?

If both parties are the same age and consent, there's little public interest in giving them both a criminal record.

The whole law just seems sexist as well, this whole 12 year old dad thing has annoyed me. Nobody is getting prosecuted but if it was the other way round and the lad was 15 and the girl 12 you know the lad would be getting a place on the sex offenders register.

Disgusting.

I've been seduced by an older woman. I need some money as well.

As she is a UK citizen I think the gov't should pay me compensation.

How much do you want. I'm sure there's a grant/loophole available...

It gets worse. She's from Manchester. I think this should double any compensation amount.

If she's from Manchester you get 21% extra compensation. Fill out the form and hand over the blood samples...

I'm stuck. Subsection 21(c) exclusion clause e(4) allows me to make a claim at 19% based on Section J subclause 45(e) but it would exclude the "thank god for getting a northener out of the country" clause you mention at 21%.

the 21% is not a tax writeoff. The 19% is. As a middle income earner which is the better option?

uhhhhh, since when did 12 become the new teen?

Anyway, I always thought, or was told by someone that if two people under the age of consent were to engage in sexual activities, it was legal, but I just had a look and it seems the general rule is that middle child hood children 9-16 having sex comes under child abuse and statuory rape acts. So yes it is illegal. However I then found this, which ok comes in to American law I am not sure if it is the same here

"Age of consent is the age at which an individual can legally consent to intercourse without qualification. There are qualified circumstances in which sexual relations with a person under the age of consent are not a crime (or constitutes a less serious crime). The most common such qualifications are that both parties to the act are minors, or that the person to be charged is legally married to the minor or close in age to the minor."

I do agree that yes, they should be charged with a crime, but its a catch 22
eg

13 year old dad- charged with crime, possible to go to young offenders institue,
then there is the other part where, the kid is the kids' dad, and I dont think any child should be deprived of a father or mother
then the kid cant offer a good qaulity of life for the child if he wasnt charged anyway, at 13 your not ready to take on that responisibilty, I mean at 17 your are allowed to drive, that is a big responisbility, but nowhere near as big as looking after a child.

The female side of it
pretty much same as above, again not old enough to have the responisibilty of a child, yet you cant really tell a young girl, your not old enough to look after the child, we are taking it off you, or you will have to have an abortion

There needs to be more education on the subject, if it was me, I would say that 18 is the minimum age for anyone to have a child, infact maybe even 21. Its the child you have to think of at the end of the day, and if they are going to have the qaulity of life they deserve. I will probably get flamed for this above comment, if there are young mothers on here, but for me personally to have a child you need to have, financial stability a home and the care and love a child deserves, which I think cant be offered by a younge person...Before anyone asks im 21

Shirley someone must think of the children
