Im in the process of rebuilding my gto3r. Just wondering if anyone know the changes they made to the cam timing on the M400? Or if anyone has a diagram of how it was set etc? I think the inlet cams were advanced but not sure how much. Will be changing the valve springs and retainers to the uprated ones

Cheers!

I seem to remember it's one tooth advanced on inlet.

How sure are you? Been speaking to noble motorsport about things, as the engine is out and fully stripped down it would make sense for me to do all the work then take it to them to get it mapped. As ive already done the fuel pump, exhaust, intercooler and doing the valve springs then I could do it at same time. I can see their point about them wanting to not tell me as its something that they offer, just seems a lot of effort for me to rebuild it, all new gaskets etc then they have to spend a day to take it to bits again!

Right had a quick look through some previous posts, one says that the they advance the inlet cam 17 degrees.
And another says that the the m400 has the exhaust timing adjusted by one tooth

Maybe some photos or if anyone knows for sure 100%?

No they wouldnt, were being quite off with me to be honest, just because I am doing it myself rather than paying them to do it. He also said that ford wouldnt supply me with any parts, after speaking to for this morning though I have ordered an oil pump, timing chain tensioners and full gasket set no problems and got all the part numbers. Can kind of see why they wont tell me what they do to the timing as I could then start my own business offering it cheaper than they can. It just seems daft for me to build the engine and them to then take it to bits again!
Any info on the cam timing would be great if anyone knows.

Cheers

Personally Olly, I would suggest sticking to standard unless you have an in depth understanding of valve timing and ovelap and its consequences. 17 degrees is A LOT.

Tuning the car correctly should reap safer benefits.
Timing is shown here http://www.nobleforums.com/showthread.php?t=4028&a...

I know 17 degrees is a lot thats why we are trying to find out what noble motorsport change it to.
When I spoke to them they said when they built the engines they had to "put a restriction in" but on the M400 they didnt. When I asked what they do they said "cam alterations" I asked if they re-grind the profiles, he said no its to do with the timing. Im fairly sure it can only be altering the chains by 1 tooth or something, you cant get the gears off the end to fit vernier pullys so it must be pretty basic. Id just like to find out, I was going to take it to them to get it mapped after ive done all the work, and its going to save me 7 hours of their time if I can get it done ready

if you can adjust the timing whilst the engine is in the car - run it on the dyno and adjust to get the best results

As long as you're not paying by the hour!

M400 cams should be installed using the factory marks. This has been confirmed by a US specialist and Trevor @ Roush.
