What tripod for a 6yr old?
Discussion
My 6yr old daughter has inherited my old Olympus C750 UZ.
Having just got back from the zoo at Chessington, she is somewhat narked that lots of my shots are nice and clear, whereas lots of hers are all blurred. OK, there's a big difference in the camera and lenses we're using, but the main difference is me shooting on a tripod and her shooting handheld - particularly reinforced, of course, in the creepy-crawly house, where flash photography is forbidden.
So, a hopefully straightforward question... Can anyone recommend a tripod for kids?
It doesn't need to be big. She's only 125cm or so tall herself, so no need getting anything which extends to 150cm or whatever.
It doesn't need to be particularly sturdy, as it's only going to have a compact on it anyway.
It does need to be as light and compact as possible, so that a 6yr old can carry it.
Any ideas? Google is not particularly helpful.

Jessops do a very lightweight (and cheap!) one which extends to 6 foot (I think), but when it's all put together it's quite small, say a couple of feet? (I'm working from memory here...) It'd probably suit a small person wanting to take her own photos because it's not heavy to carry - but it's very easy to knock over. Should be okay for a compact though.

The only good tripod for a 6yr old is a VERY light one. The reason being is that YOU will be carrying it most of the time. It's bad enough me lugging my own tripod, numerous lenses, camera etc plus my 5 year old's camera, my 7 year old's camera (both compacts) and a video camera and my compact (for the wife to take snaps) - the last thing I would want is to carry another tripod too.
You can always cheat - download the images from your daughter's camera but before showing them to her, swap some of them for yours. There, no more blurred pictures and no need for a tripod

Well this proved perfect! I got an extremely light tripod which will be tall enough for her for the next 3-4 years or so, plus a bag for it which will also just about take the camera, all for £16.

We're just heading out to try it now at the ruined abbey outside Ripley. I'll stick some of her pics up later so long as they're not too much better than mine!

You know they will be

We got there to be faced with what has to be without doubt the best light of the year so far, all ready to go.
Camera? Check.
Sigma 10-20mm? Check.
Tripod? Check.
Batteries charged? Check.
Memory card 1? In the sodding adaptor, still attached to the PC after taking some shots this morning.
Memory card 2? In the other bag.

So, I didn't get a single shot!

I've bought Velbon CX440 from www.cameraworld.co.uk for £20. It comes in a camera bag and is quite light and fairly robust. Its also got a quick attatchment with is great.
