Found a very good Turkish restaurant (smart, not bad prices, extensive menu) just over the way from the Ivor Novello Theatre a few weeks back.

I'm a big fan of Belgo. Great moules & frittes, steaks, lobster ( when the lobsterfest is on ) , about 50 beers etc...

Wahaca is pretty decent but not the kind of place you'd go if you're expecting an elaborate meal pre-theatre. It's what I'd describe as "easy going" eating but generally good.

What kind of food do you want? There are literally thousands of places around there. Well, almost.

Le Garrick was also quite nice but again more of a "supper" feel than an elaborate dinner.

One of the better London French restaurants on Monmouth street, about 3 minutes walk at most from Covent Garden tube, an is reasonably priced, for London.

Their pre-theatre menu is even better value.

Worked out £25 for starter, meal, desert and drink...bare in mind that it doesn't fill you up much, I could have eaten 2 mains,

If you fancy some asian-fusion food Tamarai is a bit different, it's on Drury Lane. Maybe not perfect for pre-theatre, but you never know.

You could do worse than going to Chez Gerard - http://www.chezgerard.com/restaurants.asp which is based in Covent Garden.

+1

Very good value if you catch their special offer (3 courses + champage for £25) and don't go crazy on the wine.

Cote on Wardour St is pretty good, although a little bit of a walk away.

Fire and Stone is an interesting pizza place, but can be hit and miss with regards to the quality. Have a look on restaurants websites, as loads have theatre menu offers on.
