Just a warning for you guys!

That's what it says in the paper today anyway, probably end up being a feature on some other crap.

I did see Fifth Gear. I might have to sell my S2 and get a Turbo. Great feature, there should be more maybe Top Gear.

The 944 turbo is great with the Guru Racing kit.

I recorded it I've got a TV card, but not sure how I'd save it without it making a 10GB file!

Thanks for the tip Davyboy or I'd have missed that.

That car was the spitting image of mine (apart from the rear spoiler). Those of you in the 944 register of PCGB might remember when 5th gear were asking for a late 80's 944T to feature in their 80's spectacular. Everyone I knew was scared that Tiff would trash the car (me included) so we wussed out. They asked again and there were still no takers, and did you notice that last nights car was actually a 1991 H reg I guess they weren't inundated with offers.

I wish I hadn't wussed out now as Tiff was ever so gentle and maybe I'd be sitting here now saying 'did ya see my car on 5th Gear last night'

Davy - nice Astra I saw you in this morning

i saw it and it confirmed all my suspicions that the s2 never felt as good to me as the turbo. i nearly bought an s2 due to the amount of owners that rate them highly. i do think that they are good but i think the pace of the turbo and the ease with which you can upgrade it to 300bhp makes it the better car by far. trust me i drove a 285bhp turbo with boost enhancer etc and it was very quick and very adjustable on trhe limit. more to the point the grin factor was huge!!

You've hit the nail on the head in that the only real difference between a standard Turbo and a standard S2 is that the Turbo is so easily upgradeable. Apart from that they really are so very similar in outright performance, they just deliver it in different ways. The S2 is nimble and responsive, the Turbo has awful lag but then incredible boost.

Before I upgraded my Turbo it was virtually identical to my wifes S2. If you like your cars standard I still maintain the S2 is the better buy. But, if you hunger for more.......

The only things I've read about people preferring the S2 over the Turbo have been about running costs. No 2 ways about it. Same car, more power. If you can afford it, you've gotta do it

and also the turbo has the 8v lump and thus avoids any timing chain problems.

personally i find the turbo power alot more fun, and dare i say it addictive even!!

i can imagine the s2 to be alot more friendly to drive. i really need to take one for a proper test drive....
