Engines that can be used in a kitcar...
Discussion
I am looking into building my first kitcar, so please excuse my ignorance, I can see that many people recommend all sorts of engines like zetecs and duratecs etc.
My question is tho, if you were to take, for example a zetec engine out of a front wheel drive ford, is it difficult or problematic to fit into a kitcar which would be rear wheel drive?
Can you simply fit the transmission inline for a rear wheel drive or is serious modification required?
Any help would be massively appreciated...
Thanks!!

Zetec's can be mated to the type 9 five speed from the sierra or a MT75 5 speed from later granada's to provide the right angle of propulsion.
assuming you are contemplating a 'caterfield' type car then a vauxhall redtop is a popular choice, or the toyota twincam from the older corolla RWD.
or there is always the pinto...
But then thats whats in mine, cheap cheerful and a bit heavy but it helps to keep the front on the ground.
