Top Gear.....sour grapes

Sooo,

Sour Grapes or Anti Beamer/Porky feelings...call it what you like, but was anyone else screaming at the screen, last night, as to why the T350C wasn't in the list for best Roadster....if the Porky can be classed as a roadster, so can the latest Tiv!!!!

Not really, if it had a V8 fair do's, but like the Beamer it has a straight six...and this was quoted as the classic sports car engine.....

The C in T350C probably has a lot to do with it.

They could have a put a Tamora in, but they don't seem to be very popular for some reason?

Er am I missing something or is a Roadster s'posed to be a softtop and the T350C is a hatchback
But I would have liked to see a Tamora in the group test Don't think you'd get the roof down in 10 seconds though

No soft top, of course....balls.....oh well, stick a Griff in there, would have stuffed all three, especially on those roads

I guess the TVR wasn't included was because the Boxster, S2000 and Z4 are in a lower sporting category than the TVR now. The TVR would have been up against a proper 911, Honda NSX (replacement) and a BMW........well they don't make anything at that level yet and the M6 will just be a barge.

Must admit when Clarkson shouted down to them I was expecting the car to be a Tamora.To be honest thought the Honda looked extremely bland.

Going slightly off the subject whats so special about the CSL having a carbon fibre roof TVRs have had them for years.

Have to agree I was also hoping to see a Tamora hiding at the top of the cliff.

I too was expecting to see a T350. I think I can safely say that the TVR would have embarassed the rest of them so, maybe that footage should have been entitled " What you can drive if you haven't got the bottle for a TVR!"

A TVR is a very different type of car to the three featured, and would not have compared favourably given the criteria alas.

Beside the fact the a TVR is considerably more expensive to maintain than the BMW and Honda, don't know about the Porsche - it is an entirely different driving experience to all three.

If the weather outside was pi$$ing it down and I had a 300 journey to make, all three of those cars would beat a Tamora or T350c any time, which is why many of us have daily drivers.

Whereas all three cars demonstrated could be daily drivers.

I'm not saying that this view on sports cars is good, after all I'm starting to look at Tamoras, but we have to accept that TVRs are not always the ideal sports cars for all punters.

Now perhaps a Marcos, Noble and TVR road-test comparison would be a little more realistic as they are all specialist toys with limited appeal. No bleating about missing ABS, airbags etc.

I think you really mean Tamora. Also the TVR is £37K(?), which is another step up from the Honda (£25K), BMW (£31K) and Boxster (£32K - 38K with options !)

I would like to see a test where they pitch a T350 against a Noble, Porsche 911 and an NSX in a British performance per pound against big manufacturer type test...

Yes, there was one in the paddock at Brands on Sat this weekend. I had a good old nose round it. Was surpirsed about the boot floor though !! it's not as flimsy as JC made out though

It never crossed my mind. I don't see TVR in the same class and besides, you can't get the lid off a T350C.

Like everyone else here -- I thought JC was going to unveil a TVR of some flavour -- but after seeing the price - the performance etc, I reckon the TVR is a step up the ladder. It's also a purist drivers car. No driver aids, and scary performance.

What would you put the TVR up against ? 996 ? Noble ?

I find it more difficult to pigeon hole Blackpool's finest.
