Lot’s of people are being caught out by not having a current licence making their insurance null & void.

When I went for a 2-part licence I thought it was to 70, not so, check your photo card date which is just above your signature.

October, just shows we should never assume anything, I assumed it was until aged 70 too!

Do the DVLA send out a reminder anyone know?
I only ask as they send me a reminder every 6 months for road tax and also a reminder of the speed limit if I forget.

Yes - at least they sent me a reminder. £17.50 plus a photo for the photocard.

We had to smack down a directors PA for sending this email to the entire company as she was in breach of several policies. The email circulation is a spam and just ignore it. You will receive a reminder at least 2 months prior to the expiration

I had to renew mine a few years ago...I never received a reminder, nor have I heard of anyone else here receiving a reminder.

Its a topic that comes up now and again on local car forums. I know its only every 10 years it needs renewed...but I didnt think it would be that difficult for people to remember....given how important it is !!

I passed my test at 17...so its easy to add 10....add 10...

Mine is still the old paper licence; its getting a bit worn now, but I'm going to hang onto it for as long as poss, b%$£*&ds get enough money out of me as it is! L.O.L.

Ps, sure that the insurance clause says 'holds or has held', so should be no problem with insurance if you accidentally forget, or did not realise that you had to (still an offence to drive without a licence though).

Not sure this works - mine is dated from first issue of photocard licence resulting from house move...
