No, but if you look on ebay you can buy a country estate there for about 5k.

A nice house needing attention for about 2k...

I've been seriously contemplating that as well, for the price of a secondhand Vectra I might go for one.

Business took me to Yambol a couple of years ago. People are nice, everything was cheap, place was a mess. Have no intention of returning: certainly not for pleasure.

I stayed in Bulgaria a couple of years back. Nothing particularly good to say sadly. Made it a good holiday but if I was the moaning type then it could have been terrible.

Poor service all round, almost everywhere I went.

Had to pay to use the beach.

'Replica' watches everywhere constantly being pushed on you.

No local food available without going miles off the beaten track, just english muck.

More English and Germans than Bulgarians

The temptation to buy this via Paypal is strong...

I have been snowboarding in the black mountains and spent some time in Sofia.

It is run by gangsters for gangsters. The place is so bent it is untrue. A bribe will get you everything. It is dangerous in the wrong place at the wrong time. There is no health care, dole etc. The poor are very desperate people but the well off live fairly well. The place is full of knock off gear so shopping can be a problem even in Sofia.
In the country the locals are very pleasant as long as you keep spending.

Be prepared to spend 20 times that in bribes to get it all sorted once you get there.

Last time I had to go there, I landed, asked for fuel. Bowser turns up. Bloke tells me bowser is broken. I ask how much to fix it. He tells me exorbitant amount. I hand over cash. 30 seconds later, bowser mysteriously fixed, I'm getting fuel.

No thanks. Beautiful country, genuinely warm people who want to talk to you about life etc, but run, totally, by corrupt gangsters.

I've always not wanted to live in a Guy Ritchie film.

Right, strike Bulgaria off my retirement list.

How about Zimbabwe? A quid must get you a castle there. If they had any castles.

I'e always wanted to buy a bit of land in spain and build my own castle. Proper old style castle, a bit saggy with a lean. No the castle, not me. PH castle builders' club anyone?

This is true,

We had a few great holidays there about 10 years or so ago, sunny beach.

We seen a bar owner get his "donations" collected by men in a range rover, complete with gunmen.

Then we seen a drive by shooting....

Beach is nice though

Oh hell yes. Have a read of a Misha Glenny book (like McMafia) before you decide to go. The Balkans are the Wild West.

I can't abide bad English! You might have seen a murder, but it's no excuse for murdering the mother tongue.

It's Fri night/Sat morning. I would imagine much alcohol has been consumed in the last few hours. Chill Winston.
