Would hope they actually make it look sporty to go along with the performance!

How much torque does this thing produce? I'd imagine that this is going to be really quite swift.

Given the faster version already seems to be running a boostier map, I wonder how much room for further tuning there is?

Yum ! yum I'd have one over the uber-ubiquitous BM/Merc/VAG any day of the week.
The interior is simply sensational !
(and you'll get let out at junctions hehe )

Its about time another a comparable rival was brought to the table. As for being faster, unlikely, probably about the same given its power to weight.

I cant help but think though, nice as the XF is it isnt really any more than a poshed up Mondeo......not what a Jag should be about, well not to me anyway.

I could understand that comment in relation to the X-Type but I wasn't aware the XF had much in common with a Mondeo....

Dont think it has other than it just looks like a grown up mondeo in the same way as the Granada looked like a grown up Sierra.

I think the bottom line is if you took the badges off the XF you'd just left with a generic Ford product imo.....Nothing wrong with that and Id love an XF myself, but its no Jag unfortunately.

Actually think the XF looks more like a Lexus GS than a Ford! Unfortunately Jaguar don't seem to be able to win when it comes to styling though; too much like a traditional Jag and they're labelled old fashioned, change the look and they're then not Jaguar enough!

I can see that the XF perhaps lacks some of the styling innovation that made older Jaguars stand out but to me what really makes a Jag is the combination of effortless performance, refinement and a magic carpet ride. I've not driven one but get the impression the XF delivers all those things and therefore it would certainly be at or near the top of my list if I wanted a car that size; just a pity Jaguar messed-up their 3 series equivalent....

Hmm, good specs, shame it's an evil weasel diesel.

Lets see if it has a decent mpg benefit over the petrol. If not, why put up with a diesel?

would be surprised if it's got better overall performance than it's BMW rival. Would think the BMW has better chassis on it for starters. who knows, it's about time someone actually tried competing properly with BMW on the diesel market...no-one seems to be able to make better diesels (road cars here....) than BMW at the moment. Then again....that x35d engine has been around for a few years now, maybe not too long until they release another?

this has another 20lb ft of torque, but 15bhp down. would be interesting to see torque/power curves between the 2.

still think the BMW will be better performance....could be wrong though!!

Much rather have a Jag than a BMW. Maybe the xf doesn't look as good as the concept car but still is a really nice looking car, just make sure you get a nice dark colour, looks rubbish in silver.

I know what you mean, I think the xf was a missed opportunity by jaguar, could have been much better looking. Having said that I'd still have one over a bmw 5 series. At least it's a bit different, 5 series are ten a penny and have a rubbish ride with those run flat tyres.

Wow!!! That's how the XF should have looked!!

Instead they make it look like an Amercian car to appeal to the Yanks frown

I think the XFR looks okay, but, unlike the above concept pic, the XF design was hardly revolutionary IMO.
