Being reported the Unite union say a UK car manufacturer which employs 6000 staff is on the verge of shutting down unless if gets government help.

Any ideas which company?

Got to be Vauxhall! Over 4,000 at Ellesmere Port plus another 1,500 at Luton. GM have already suggested Ellesmere port may close and I think Vauxhall are the biggest Motor employer in the UK (I may be wrong! please correct if so)

News this morning is still reporting no disclosure of name but quoting a "6000 workforce".
I guess if GM has ditched Saab then it could be Vauxhall-bloody shame if it does happen.

(mind you cheap VXR8s anyone? smile )

It will be Vauxhall. I recently got retrenched from GM and the inside info I have is the company is in a lot more trouble than they are letting on.

LDV
I'm suffering a bit of ambivalence with regard to LDV's potential collapse. On the one hand 900 jobs going is not something I want to see. That said though, I work for a company that insists on leasing LDVs, they are quite simply the worst designed and built vans I have ever encountered. Regrettably as they are cheap the only way I can see them disappearing from work is if they're no longer available.

Believe me, if you were able to find one to test drive, you'd soon decide not to bother buying. They have no redeeming features whatsoever.

Have to agree.

Quite simply awful vans. You can see through the gaps in the doors!
