They have threatened that place for years yes, but now it is one of few profitable plants in Europe for GM.
The fact that all the tooling is still going in, and training for the next Astra is still going on would suggest to me that it is ok for the time being. It's also the "lead" plant for the next generation Astra so I would say, for the first time, that to close it now would be a huge shock. On the other side of the coin, there are rumours (and that is all they are) that Antwerp, Eisenach and Bochum plants are on the verge of closure. One of those 3 is a certainty as it hasn't been allocated a new model for the one that is finishing up there.
I just hope the gates aren't closed on Monday when I go to work!
