My Honda S2000 died on the M5 last week. Turns out there had been an oil leak and yet no warning light came on until it was too late (aforementioned M5!) having last checked it 2months ago (yes I know, I'm a muppet). Honda are quoting £9k for a complete new engine. Does anyone know of a reputable company in the south of England that will fit a new/reconditioned engine for less?

Thanks in advance.

Yup, these S2000's can use over a litre per 1000 miles! But then again 240PS NA? It's a racing engine! Find a crash damaged one and pull the engine from that, sound advice above...

Honda's oil lights are next to useless. They should call it the "your engine's f**ked but I forgot to come on" light. Very glad that Mazda include a working one on the RX8 which lights up if teh oil hits 1/4 full on the dipstick!

Ha ha. Yep, it's turned from my most reliable ever car (certainly better than the TVR) into a huge loss maker.

I would come over here and ask - lots of people replaced engines now!
