Trying to keep the miles off my Impreza, so decided to take the wife's Mini One (2007) on a 200 mile round trip to a meeting today.

Now, I'm used to having quick, well handling cars... and also own a 1974 Mini 1000 so am used to decent handling - but have to say I was astounded by how the little Mini grips. It's also remarkably refined on the motorway (for a 1.4), and very well built (well, anything would seem so compared to an Impreza!).

I was so impressed that I've decided to buy one (a new Cooper S). So I've spoken to my local dealer about what kind of deal they can do me. Out of interest, what should I be aiming for on a 3 year PCP, based on 20k miles p/a with 1k deposit? Looking for Chilli Pack, Bluetooth, Privacy glass, 17" Minilite-style wheels and LSD if poss.

Cracking little car - just don't know why I never believed the wife when she raved about hers!

I understand you a lot. Also to avoid spoiling the M3 in daily city traffic, I choose a Clubman Cooper D for the torque and I am very pleased. Sometimes I regret a Cooper S... but it was more reasonnable like that. Hope you will find your toy quickly. Just pay attention on comfort with the runflat 17" !

Sorry, should have been more specific - was referring to the interior.

Are you looking at the later models or the older minis? the older model pre 2006 is in my opionon a better handling car though it could be a little to rough for some

Bob - MINI are currently offering finance contributions upto £750 on MINI Cooper-S's if you can find something that is sat in stock.

Where are you based.?

Based in Yorkshire - the local dealer have this in stock:

White/black roofed MCS (brand new) with Chilli, Minilites (or whatever BMW call them nowadays), MF wheel, Privacy Glass, Cream colourline/Piano Black trim, Heated mirrors, TLC, Basic Bluetooth/USB and a few other bits for £420/month with £500 in, based on 20k p/a over 3 years. Based on a buy price of £18,300.00.

What should I be aiming for? Happy with the above spec, would like LSD if possible. Do you reckon I could get the JCW pack added at a discount, for a deal this month?

LSD is a must on a Cooper-S fella if you are looking to have some fun in it...
