Hi all,

Hope someone can help me on a couple of questions on my 4.2 ajp Cerbera 1998.

Just had twin headlight conversion started eg just glassed in pods, do you know in what order the lights are fitted. Is it the top one side lights and dip and the bottom main beam? Also has anybody removed the door mirrors eg how do you remove the door cards to gain access to the screws as I need to remove these for car to be painted. Hope to meet some of you soon at the events.

Regards

Jon

Can't help with the lights but the fixings for the door cards are the countersunk allen bolts around the door when it's open, and some are underneath.

Headlights, up to you, nearly every car has had it done differently. Personally, I'd put the sidelight low and mainbeam high as this will give you the best combination of light.

Door cards are held on with 6-7 allen head bolts around the frame. 2 near the hinge from above and the others underneath and around the door lock.

Make sure the new light are installed level (check the writing on the front of the glass of the lamps).

It may sound obvious but the previous owner of mine didn't and I knew all about it the first night I had it.

You don't remove the door cards to take the mirrors off. Push the mirror all the way round thru 90 degrees and you'll then have access to one of the Allen headed screw that holds it in. Then twist it the other way for the other one.

My converted hedlights have side/dip on the bottom and high beam on the top - when you 'flash' the bottom ones turn off whilst the high beam come on.

I'm sure I've seen others that were the opposite - your choice.

I'm after a bit of advice,I have removed my lights and I have one 3 pin plug for the h4 main and dipped beam bulb (dual filament) and 2 spades that connect for my side light.

With the twin headlamp conversion I now have 3 bulbs. how do I wire them up?

obviously the side light will remain the same but i am effectively splitting the main/dipped beam to sperate bulbs now. do I have to remove one of the wires (the Main beam wire) from the 3 pin plug and run it, along with an earth, to the full beam lamp.

Hi

You have slight different light set up that I am going to fit that I have only 2 lights, but regardless you will need to split the 3 way connector into 2 separates and also you will need to spur another negative wire off original so you then have 4 wires not 3 to do 2 wires for dip and 2 wires for main eg. negatives and positives. The other 2 spades you have will go to the little parking light you have on your set up I already have this built into on the dip on my set up. Hope this helps.

CERB BOY I have two lights for each side to. I have one lamp with full beam only and another lamp with side light and dipped light. i take it thats what you have. as the only other option is the 3 light combo with one lamp for main, one lamp for dipped and a small side light mounted in the side of the pod.

so I just have to split the 3 pin plug and spur off the original earth to create 2 x 2 pin plugs instead of one 3 pin voila

Hi

I have just noticed you have got the combination that I should have had as I have just noticed that the dip headlight does not have the extra light for side and yes you have got it right on the wiring side of how to do it. I however now have got to workout do I drill the dip headlight and fit my own side light in it or if someone can advise me is it the same format on MOTs if it is not fitted it doesnt have to work or is it a stipulation that it does have to have side lights?

I think that, so long as the dip beams come on when the switch is in the sidelights position then it will be OK - probably worth a call to your local MOT centre though.
