The Boxster has been sold today (actually sold last week but had to wait to complete deal) so the hunt is on.

If anyone hears/sees a G spyder for sale, it must be:
Manual
Giallo Midas
Black leather and yellow stitching
Immaculate
Low miles

I don't want yellow piping (leave that for the Countach/Diablo owners) and I'd prefer black Calistos or silver Cassiopeas. Sat nav, rear camera and lifting gear would be nice but they aren't essential.

It seems to be hard tracking one down. Dealers must be offering ridiculously low prices (I was insulted by the offer for my Boxster from Porsche Sutton Coldfield) hence why people are keeping their car rather than selling. I just missed out on one which was perfect purely because I didn't want to commit until I had sold my car. May have been fate.

The G must be immaculate, low miles etc. Using auctions as a guide I'm looking to spend at around the £70-£80k mark dependent on condition, spec etc. There's a few cars that have been for sale which are £10-15k over what they are worth. If the prices become more sensible I'd be interested.

Don't get me wrong I love piping on the Countach and Diablos but don't think it suits the G.

Good luck with that search.

Knew of one that matches your exact criteria but it sold in last few weeks well above what you deem sensible prices.

your budget states 70 to 80k ,think if you ditch looking for one nearer to 80k you alot more likely to find one,if trends follow think spyder prices will be more firm with summer coming..owners trying to come to terms with 80 to a 100 k sitting in their garage depriciting soon realise its irrellevent when sun out and they can have a play in them again.

if trade are selling them circa 85k then there must be sellers who are prepared to take 70k or less for them. surely trade mark up is 10k plus? or have margins eroded

General feeling is that those who HAD to sell have done so.Those that remain owners are deciding that rather than take the hit they may as well get on with enjoying them, hence the falling prices have stopped dropping and are firming with the coming of spring

makes sense.. we are talking about 1-2 year old cars having dropped around what 60k in value (werent they 130k new?) depreciation from here on will be much more gentle one would hope

Your going to struggle to find a car that fits your wish list not only due to specific colours and spec but mostly due to the fact that the quantity of sports cars availible for sale is being reduced every day. Have noticed many dealers reporting very strong activity maybe margins are tight but nice cars are selling very quickly. Had a very respectible dealer call me yesterday chasing my car 4 weeks ago he was pushing me to give him my car SOR (personally would never do this) now with business and sales so strong chasing car for outright purchase!! Have known them for 15 years and are on very friendly terms - he is currently working 7 days a week and reckons a large quantity of cars are still going abroad that along with people reasoning that they might as well hang on to thier car is creating a sudden but noticable shortage of top end cars..

Did they mention price regarding the outright purchase? Were they trying to steel it or was it a good price?

Apart from the piping, this is pretty much it isn't it?

Hi Pete

We did not really get down to the nitty gritty - but he is aware of what figure I roughly wanted for it when we talked a month ago. Since then I have a private chap who wants it so our conversation was slightly acedemic but all the same it possibly is a sign that middle to top end sports cars are moving if credentials are spot on.

From having maintained a constant eye on the market for G's over the last three months and having discussed with many people i'd say you'll be v lucky to get all of your desired spec at your desired price. "If prices become more sensible" - i think current prices are offering great value to buyers right now. good luck and enjoy.

I said £70-80k as a ball park figure. Last ones through auction were £73-79k provisional so I used that as a 'guide'. One that was sold at Manchester was up for sale privately for £61k (and he got castigated on here for it), it was up for sale at Lambo Stockport for £80k highlighting margins.

Thanx for all your replies. I'll keep looking. The new Spyder will be out soon (June/July?) so owners trading up may be able to sort me out.
