Just booked my Eurotunnel ticket for the 10:28 on the Thursday morning, returning at 19:30 on the Monday evening. Use the promo code EBO30 and you get the price for £113.00.

Anyone fancy the 1000 km races at Spa, Monza and Silverstone next year?

I have decided that I am not going to Lemons next year, only the third time I'll miss the race since 1983, blimy makes me feel old!!
The sheer weight of people is the main factor, the last two years cueing for hours to get into Arnarge for instance just p****d me off big style.
I have decided to go to as many of the 1000K races as I can, Silverstone is a no brainer as I live 20 mins from the circuit. I have never been to Monza so I will be going to that race, Spa is just the dogs as a circuit as is the Nurburgring (apart from the added bounus of getting to drive the full circuit) so I will be there for those three as well, dont leave too much else I guess.
Let me know what your plans are Nige, I would be interested in joining in a Vette convoy, especially down a German autobahn or two!!

I don't think the word "convoy" would be suitable for a German Autobahn....more like a "Blitzkreig"

Yeah that sounds like fun.

Wont it feel odd driving at that speed without having your eyes peeled for the police !

Me, me,me,me,me - Can't wait - I should also be up for the Silverstone meet. Probably not the others as I should be working most of the major car shows to promote the Parts import business

Had a very nice phone call from Vincent Genit of the French Corvette club last night, he was saying that the police are clamping down on the speeding front, especially around Paris and some of the major country roads. Including the introduction of speed cameras. May be this is the begining of the end of those happy days blasting through the French countryside, I really really hope not.

Keith and I will definately not be going to Le Mans next year after our experience with the old bill this year. On a brighter note having paid 750 euro fine we have been told that they are sending us a refund of 300 euro! The road blocks etc spoilt the fun of the trip, we usually travel in convoy with other american cars, coupled with the cost of entry/parking/food etc we feel its become a bit of a rip off. Our adventures will continue as usual in Sweden, Norway and Germany with the pace car, where the attraction is of course Drag Racing, and the USA without the car!

We could try slowing down on the trip to Le Mans....Just a thought.....and relating to the cost, it is far cheaper than say an F1 event and you get a lot more for your money.

Depends on who you are drinking with... A certain computer programmer and a bathroom specialist spring to mind!!!

I read that there are thousands of speed cameras about to spring up in France on another thread

We're on for Le Mans again next year. For a first visit the "day trip" (down Sat back Sun)in 2003 was a bit of a scramble so planning for a more relaxed timescale in 2004. Given family commitments etc etc we need to use time effectively. Enjoyed the article in recent Vette News and will be on the look-out for any other tips on what not to miss and how long to stay.
