I can't believe that any Tiv driver would wear earplugs to drown out the lovely noise (especially of my V8) ...

Anyone on here prepared to own up to this heinous crime? Or shall we go over there and beat him (?) up?

Of course it might have been me with a Bluetooth earpiece in - it's the only way I can use a mobile with the hood down! And it still will be after 1 Dec too!

I saw a guy with earplugs in once - in a Chimaera with the roof up. I could understand something like a wedge for a long motorway jounrney, but not the pussy cat purr quiet Chimaera!

I think he just means that TVRs make more noise than his car does. Must be a librarian or something.

When Psychobert bought his S3 he found packets and packets of ear plugs under the passenger seat. It would appear the previous owner may well have sold due to grief from his female passenger....

Have considered it in the past for longer journey's , its fairly loud(er) now but in a nice way me thinks . Saying that will probably take a set or two to Lemans.
Last trip back form Bruntingthorpe N02 son put some in so he go asleep on the way home

I wish I had earplugs the other day...

Had to do 100 miles back from Bristol to London, after one of the rear silencers fell off on the Tuscan S (and I don't mean the rear cans). Considering I had a temperature of 104 that morning, and a splitting headache, it didn't do much for me...! :S

In my 350i if it sounded too loud I just drove faster, to leave the noise behind

Many of the cars with sports exhaust actually break the health and safety rules for exposure to loud noises.

BTW if you look closely, all the F1 drivers use ear plugs.

I've thought about it a couple of times when doing 250+ motorway miles with the roof and windows down - the engine noise isn't the problem, its the wind buffeting that leaves me feeling slightly after I stop

Yup - I wear earplugs, proper custom made silicom moulded plugs that live in the SEAC. I only use them on the motorway though.

This Tiv will resonate the hairs inside my ear when I clog it between two stone walls; it don't half tickle!

If I clog it through the narrow bit of Cheddar Gorge I get bad ringing in my ears, a bit like coming out of a nightclub.

And if you think my SEAC is loud, you should hear Patrick Deary's 420 SEAC

Whilst pootling around the fine English countryside during the HPC course, instructor, John Lyon, dons a pair of ear defenders - nothing discrete, just these whopping great things that look like he should be digging up the road with a pneumatic drill. He says it's because his ears are getting worn out after all the years spent in loud cars.
