Well after a 5 year gap between owning my last Cerb I finally got back in the game and bought another yesterday. wavey

Its a 2003 4.2 in Nebula Dusk and is in fantastic condition and has been well looked after by its current owner. Drove her back home yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

This ones going to be a keeper for me, and hopefully a collectors item in the future.

Will post some piccies later.

Looks very well priced comapre to other late models (eg 28K for an 03 4.5 at one dealer).

Yep that's the one, although the pictures don't do it justice.
Gave it a good clean yesterday and it really sparkles in the sun smile

Got the car inspected by Rob Ingleby before I bought it, it was in great condition apart from a few niggles which shouldn't be too bad to sort out. Big worry of course was the millage, its still on its original engine, but there's nothing obviously wrong with it.

Suppose it could be a good thing that's its been used so much by its 2 other owners, but yes I did factor the cost of a rebuild into the price that it was advertised at.

First impressions are WOW again driving ... and then that it seems easier to drive than I remember.
Brakes are still crap, especially compared to the M3, but that's one of the things that Rob said needed looking at (new disks). Turning circle is still appalling and worse than my old Speed Six which had the more modest 16" wheels. Engine temperature was a worry, it was 105 on the motorway (sat in a queue), but again Rob looked at this and thought it was probably just the temperature gauge being inaccurate, as the fans were kicking in nicely and there wasn't any sign of imminent over heating.

Sound is fantastic, its got a sports exhaust so is louder and more bubbly my last one was. From memory, the Speed Six had a bit more power at lower revs, whereas the V8 seems happier at higher revs.

All in all I'm very happy to be back, the Cerb has always been my favorite car and now I've got one again woohoo

Haven't seen one in that colour before, I really like it.
It looks like a light blue in good light, but almost black in poor.

Congratulations Bandit on returning to being a proud Cerbera owner. Just think of that excellent hassle free M3 (boring). After 5 mins of getting back in a Cerb and you have already got concerns to discuss. Don't you just love'em.

Enjoy your driving. Cheers.

Welcome back Bandit. smokin

I am suprised at your thoughts on the brakes? Aside from the lack of ABS, I reckon they're some of the best out there?!

Thanks - very glad to be back !

Hmmmmm, don't know what to say about the brakes. My Speed Six was awful and only improved after I fitted uprated cross drilled brakes, but even then they didn't inspire confidence. The new cars brakes are slightly better but still not great. Compared to the brakes on my M3 they just seem bad.

Its just going to be getting used to them again I guess, but I'm just taking it easy at the moment (lots of room from the car in front!).

It may be the pads that are fitted. If they are high temp pads they will feel a bit crap until you get some heat in them.

got to say the brakes on my speed 6 are superb, better than my subaru wrx and civic type r put together (when they dont lock up) didnt stop me from going at a rate of knots into a crash barrier though. hehe

Yep, I'd definately get the brake set up looked at asap, we had juddering issues for years but honestly, aside from that and due to the weight/the sheer stopping power available, it is IME, one of the most impressive I have used/been exposed to. thumbup

Well done chap love the car, especially the interior. Not sure what people are talking about with the brakes though?! I got straight out on a Z4m into my new Cerb and adjusting to the lack of braking ability was tough! Have you guys driven a modern quick car recently? The Cerb brakes better than my old 944 (just) but the game has moved on! My Z4 could drain the blood from your eyes! lol

I'd get both of your cars looked at, the 4.5 system is great as standard - better still if upgraded - you'll easily flat spot the tyres at 110mph if you put the brakes on clumsily hard, they're really very good.

my 4.5 brakes werent great post a Le Mans trip. Racing the whole way to Le Mans v's 911s, Maseratis, Atoms etc took their toll on my newly fitted pads (new discs were ok). When I got home I took the pads off and using a flat surface rubbed them down. Then they were back to rude health.
