When you buy a car in Europe, can you buy it without the VAT if you buy it via an American company?
Anyone done this?

I am pretty sure VAT will be charged at point of entry - no matter what shenanigans you try to come up with.

If it's second hand you won't have to pay the tax man

You need to prove the VAT has been paid before you can get GB registration done. The transit plates are only valid for a few months. ??six??

If importing privately you need to pay by cash or card at port of entry. If using a VAT registered broker, they arrange the payment and provide the receipt.
