In these times of financial uncertainty and enforced thrift upon a millions of decent folk, it is nice to think we can still afford to keep the Royals in the manner to which they have become accustomed:

I remember seeing Prince Andrew in Bridgetown years ago, he had taken in a royal flight HS 146 away for almost three weeks to tour the Caribbean.
I'm sure there were some functions that related to 'his role' going on during that time but he sure was playing a lot of golf while in Barbados.
I expect most of these trips aren't even reported in the U.K.

they ALL did.But back to topic - how would these reporters prefer members of the Royal family to travel? Train? Charter flight? Bus?
Have they considered the security implications of them doing that? AQ bombed our trains when mere mortals used them, what do you think they'd do for a Royal?

The vast majority of other European Royals who still attend huge numbers of functions (yet cost a fraction of what our lot do), use more down to earth methods of transit.
