MINI dealers - contributions
Discussion
Anyone else noticed there seem to be a fair few of them on here, posting their comments on what deals are to be had, their views on how to get the best deal etc, and of course trying to grab a sale when someone says they are interested in buying a MINI
Was just wondering why none of you guys seem to be posting in the other threads, you know the ones where people need advice on how to do something or when they have a problem, or giving members any new MINI news that they might be interested in?
Or is it just me?

Yes you would think that they would at least point out that the cold start has had an official note go to dealerships and is a problem that they can resolve in most cases Whilst I have noted the presence, I am in the market myself and having actually posed a question it remains to be answered!
<------------- Stands back and waits for half a dozen offers to contact them on PM sent to you Mind two have been posting in this section and ignored this thread already
Maybe a touch unfair. Remember they are salesmen, not mechanics.
And in fairness to Okgo, on top of the sales banter he (I assume it's a "he") does contribute some useful stuff on model news.
If you look on some of the other marque pages, it's no different. The main dealer staff who give advice or updates on technical issues are generally mechanics, not salesmen.

But surely if these guys are top of their game, they should be able to chip in, they should have an interest in their products to be able to know how to react to such questions? And in fairness to Okgo, on top of the sales banter he (I assume it's a "he") does contribute some useful stuff on model news.

All I see is the ambulance chasing style of grabbing sales or defending the sales guys.

Rakey - I am a Sales Exec within the MINI dealer network and the main reason I don't answer on "problem" threads is that I am not a specialist in that field and a Service adviser would be much better suited to do so. If it is something that I would have come across then yes maybe I would offer my 2 pence but as it is not something I deal with on a daily basis then I am not the best person to offer advice... (hence why we know about latest offers not the latest fixes)Was just wondering why none of you guys seem to be posting in the other threads, you know the ones where people need advice on how to do something or when they have a problem, or giving members any new MINI news that they might be interested in?

The best thing to do is if you have an issue is take it down to your local dealer and get them to have a look at it...
And you won't find that we are trying to "make a sale" just trying to help fellow PH's to get the best deal they can on a NEW or USED MINI.

as another mini salesman, i cropped up on a sales thread trying to "sneak" a deal in, but i have been a member of PH for about 8 years so i've seen a fair few come and go!
in my defense though, if you ran a cement mixer hiring firm and someone posted a thread up saying "i would like to hire a cement mixer" the very least you would do is sent a PM!

Well if I were a salesman for mini I would be putting together Group Buys, offering PH members small discounts and generally bending over backward to offer a service. If you look on mini2.com I think it is Wollaston mini who have a monthly deal, it maybe on JCW alloys one month or alloys another month but this guy has used his nonce to generate a good internet reputation. You can see other examples on 911.co.uk where reputable indy dealers offer free advice and the pay off for them is that most people try them first when they are buying. Rocket science it aint!!!

Sorry forgot to mention that these people sponsor the sites. If I were a sales guy Id be sponsoring every site I could and be on them every day, if I didnt know the answer i would find out.
Yes its Woodmans and Wollastons who are sponsors over on M2, and Chris at Woodmans does all the best deals and a 10% off any parts for users Then they also do deals on new cars too, which is why I buy mine from them
But like you say they pay for the privilege to do this, but they also take part in the site in other ways other than just trying to go for the sale with the users.
Its also why those two dealerships are the first and second place in accessory sales for MINI UK so many times

2 reasons for it either the top end tensioner is faulty or its the valvetronic system which is normal due to it using a series of valves not a traditional butterfly on the intake, you should hear the rattles m5`s make on coldstartWhilst I have noted the presence, I am in the market myself and having actually posed a question it remains to be answered!

Nice to see you posting away on here, one of the dealers that makes me think the others aren't worth bothering with, as you actually know what you're talking about and give a damn about more than just selling
