Been up since 6am this morning im absolutely knackered as hardly slept last night (like a child on christmas eve lol) got the train and picked the car up this morning.

Cant believe how easy it is to drive is the first impression and also they appear bigger in real life than in the pics! Love the noise of both engine and charger, love the speed, seats are great, mpg im happy with averaged 23.6 on the trip home, gearchange is a bit, well its a bit not good but got used to it, big problem is the brakes though! Would say not just the stopping power of them but their is literally no feel through the pedal of what they are doing.

Things to sort first are a dent in the drivers door (aaaarrrggghh) wish hadnt spotted it as its driving me insane already, also has a few stone chips on the front end which need to sort (has a touch up stick inside it so thats good!) and it needs a very good clean now.

All in very very happy with it and just want to drive it all night but must go to sleep tonight!

Will get some pics taken and posted up when its all clean!

Forgot to mention both door handles have the dreaded peeling paint issue which ive read about on here before.

Is that a warranty issue that Vaux will sort out and if so whats the best way to go about it?

Thanks

it was a warranty issue but read on here recently that the vauxhall reply to a forum member was the warranty was only valid for the original owner

I think that may be contrary to the law of the land (this one and the mainland).

indeed it is but Vauxhall and their dealerships are a law unto themselves.

Can I contact any vaux dealer and try my luck? Do the surrounds just pop off as can easily get them re-painted but would rather not pay!

Second question on the warranty side of things, my car is due a service soon, if I get the parts from say Monkfish (which I take it will be genuine bits!) and get the service done at the garage I work at (Volvo main dealers) this wont invalidate the warranty will it? Also is it easy to cancel the service reminder or do vaux need the car to do this?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks to everyones help!

Theres plenty to get used to, im assuming from the sounds of it you dont have a ripshifter, IMO thats well worth the £500 takes away the sloppy gear box and tightens up the general feel on gear changes.

BRAKES!! are a must too especially with the Supercharger thats something else well worth spending out on, consult monkfish on that one.

Here's a link with plenty of useful links and tips including re-setting the service reminder www.hsv.org.uk/topic.asp?t=291906&f=69&h=27

I too have the paint flaking issue around the door handles in the process of getting it sorted but not under warrenty oh well.

Did you try getting the flaking paint sorted under warranty? If its a total waste of time I wont bother with it!

Thanks for the link ref the service reminder!

No too much hassle and warranty has expired now, just going to remove and re-paint myself.

Are they easy to take off? If so I will take them into work and get them done.

After Shock,

I have scabby handles too, however Vaux in Darlo (my local Ro' dealership) have said "how's about NO!" to me on more than one occasion, they also said that the paint coming off below the centre spoiler couldn't be covered even though they all do it ... argh!
I have a complained logged with Vaux however I can't see anything coming of it.

is it an official vxr 500?

if not you may have warranty issues with it. Lots of posts on here recently of people buying modified Monaro's. If it is an official VXR500 then well done nice car

Just a point about the door handles...
Before their demise, Greens (Holborough) agreed to do mine under warrenty, but given the distance involved (S. Wales to Kent) I never quite "got around to it"!
I ended up paying my local 'Chipsaway' guy to do mine whilst still on the car while he sorted out a few minor scuffs for me. I was very pleased with the result, though I imagine a parts-off job is likely to be better. Just making the point that it can be done.

Is it possible to take the handle surrounds off? If so anyone got an idea how to do it!? Can easily get them re-painted if can get them off.

Its not a greens VXR500 so not one of the 'actual 15' but done from new by Picador Vauxhall to the same spec as far as I can understand, have the receipts etc to say who it was done by so should be under warranty.

i would get something in writing mate to be sure as alot of people on here are getting stuck with large bills for problems which Vauxhall will not cover!

dont mean to scaremonger but better you know now than when your gearbox blows up!

IMO dealer fitted components can only be warrantied by the dealer not vauxhall and in fact may invalidate the driveline warranty from vauxhall.

The question will be did the dealer fit it under authority from vauxhall or under their own authority?

Mind you Ive seen VX brochures with WPUK mods listed in the back. I have accepted that ultimately I have to cover the can on my driveline if its down to whats been modified.

Have the original purchase invoice etc and if its only the dealer that will warrant it they will have to come and collect it if theirs a problem lol (fat chance of that)

Hopefully dont get any issues, car wont be doing many miles so hopefully avoid any major issues.

Anyone any ideas on how to get the door handle surrounds off? Their driving me mad now with the paint peeling!
