Manchester first sign of good sense!
Discussion
On my way in to work down the Princess Parkway I have frequently looked at the cameras where we all know them to be.
Some were positioned well (before a crossing some badley (after a crossing) some were sneeky (behind signs & bushes).
But none on bits of the road I could never work out why they did not have them (you know the stretches near the shops where the flowers and toys are left).
Well after a new set of flowers arrived at one of the junctions - I noticed that the tree that previousley hid the camera had now been cut down so people could see the camera. (shame they could not have thought about this before the person had to die).
I also noticed that other cameras previousley hidden had now been exposed -
It may be too late for some people but thanks for the good sense. Cameras used well are a good idea.

hmmmm
Dunno about that one. I used to drive down the parkway all the time and i found people jumping red lights (something which seems to be really bad in Manchester....dont know why?) to be a more serious problem than speed.
If its the same strech of road that I am thinking about its got a nasty junction after a crest in the hill. The camera is placed AFTER the crest. So it does not encourage someone to approach slowly, because by the time they have gone over the crest they have already rear ended the waiting traffic!

Can I ask what the cause of death of that person was?... Was it due to speeding or dangerous driving? Did the fact that people knew that cameras were on that road make them slow down apart from where the cameras were situated? Do the many speeding motorist on that road each day kill someone?
That may have come across very insensitive...and I do feel that any avoidable death should indeed be avoided! I don't pretend to imagine the grief to relatives and freinds of the deceased...but I like to know the whole story.
