Good afternoon Everyone

I just wanted to introduce myself. As I'm about to join your exclusive club! Today I put down a deposit on an Elise R. Naturally I am very excited but for now will have to wait until everything is finalised.

For months I have read with interest your thoughts/opinions and facts about Lotus's. And in part due to that, I want thank all of you for helping me make the plunge today.

Cheers
John

Smart move my man. I've had my 111R for (let me check my watch) 5 days now and absolutely love it. Judging from the comments of the Elise veterans on this forum, the feeling isn't set to fade anytime soon!

Enjoy.

It won't. I took mine out last Sunday after two weeks of not having driven it, and having driven the Yaris a few times and boy it didn't disappoint, even the sun came out on the nice twisty bits for me.

wlecome and the 111R is a great choice. Photos when you get it!! After 1.5 years of owning the Elise, I still get a kick out of it every time I take it for a spin. I hope you tried out the 2nd cam on the test drive. hehe

Don't forget to begin the vicious cycle of upgrades - hurricane induction, 2bular exhaust, etc

congrats. I bought mine around this time last year and I've loved every minute of it. it might not be the fastest car in the world but it's absolutely one of the best to drive. the steering is arguably the best you can buy at any price. having wasted far too much money on more 'prestigious' brands I'd say it was the best I've come across. and i honestly wouldn't swap my elise for anything made by porsche or ferrari. they might get to their destination quicker than me (depending on the road mind you) but i'd be the one having the most fun.

regarding mods, someone on here posted some very sound advice:

best mod you can get your elise is a chunnel ticket to the continent.

try taking it to the alps this summer, coming back via the nurburgring and you'll realise that for pure driving pleasure it really doesn't get a lot better.

Make sure you get at least a piper cross induction and stage 2 exhaust otherwise the car sounds like a washing machine on spin... IMHO anyway!!

It's just about the best sports car ever made, but in the wet on a public road repeat after me:

Forwards not sideways, Forwards not sideways, Forwards not sideways, Forwards not sideways, Forwards not sideways.

Watch out modifying the exhaust/induction if you want to track it. Noisy is bad for track use.. you can get more friendly upgrades though .. 2bular zorst wink
