Highly amusing watching my mogs radar ears as they hear the sounds from the different speakers, then try to fall asleep as their eyes close only to be fully awake the next instant, when they hear a sound from the speaker furthest away biggrin

Would that be 5, 6 or 7.1 surround?

It's funny you mention this, I bought a 5.1 setup just before Christmas and all of our cats have reacted differently to it!

One just hates it. Won't come in the room at all when it's on. One does as you say and just sits there baffled by hearing sounds from the back of the room and there being nothing there. The other just doesn't even seem to notice it's there or on!

Try watching videos on youtube of cats fighting etc. This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3U0udLH974 made my cat slowly walk up to each speaker like she was about to pounce! Crank it up and watch the reaction!

We have 4 cats and a dog, none of them seem bothered by it. Occ the dog will go upstairs to bed early and I think sometimes the sound from the base speaker annoys him. (It's not that far from his bed) but otherwise he usually sleeps through it all!. we've had surround sound for a few years now, I think they are all just used to it!

I used to have surround sound, well the rear speakers are still in place actually. Our cat showed its displeasure at the system and chewed through the wires so now they dont work and i havent got round to repairing it. And he did the motion control sensor thingy wire for the wii too!!! Arghh, one day it might be the power cable. That'll learn him....

One of mine keeps chewing threw the cables on the rear speaker too.. (teach me not to get them chased in!)

Big sack + brick + cat = no more pulled out wires smile (only joking)

It is highly amusing though to see them trying to work out where the sound is coming from smile

Surround sound followed with a laser pointer will really send your cat bonkers.

Spazzing cats out with a laser pen is one of my all time favourite pastimes.

My cats ignore the laser pointer but the smallest one always sticks her head inside the hole on the front of the base speaker when its on.
