There were several at mine but the one that springs to mind was a lad called Michael Earnshaw. He was of traveller descent and was short, thick-set, big-browed and had a deep voice from the age of 10.

He was the 'c ock' of the year in more ways than one but boy could he fight. Those who were silly enough to take him on in a punch-up always regretted it afterwards. He would wrap stacked 2pence coins up in sellotape and punch with them grasped in his hands.

The dinner queue was never an issue for him as he would always waltz right to the front and barge you out of the way. Occasionally he would go to the chip shop for lunch. I remember him knocking a chip butty out of someone's hands because they had refused to give him a chip!

What is funny now, ten years on, is that he still rides around on a battered bmx and has lots of little deciples who he barks orders at. He's 28!

Any notoriously nasty folk at your school?

We had our village idiots, usually from Kenton/Exminster. They were too stupid to do anything at school, so turned to violence to "shine". I bumped into a few after school, and they still tried it on, but their target audience was still young, and therefore easily "impressed". One of them was stupid enough to roll a tractor onto himself, and went grey overnight apparently. He is now known locally as "badger". He still thinks he can barge his way through life bullying people, but he's had his arse kicked enough times, usually by someone half his age.

Sad really.

There was a kid forget his name as it was 20 odd years ago, always fighting picking on the younger kids etc but one day he had a pop at me didn't know why but I think I was having a bad day as I hung him out of a second floor window for his troubles scared the st out of him and his little cronies.

We both got suspended but he never tried it on again with me and he didn't pick on that may people again. He was in my year and we had known each other for 3 or 4 years I just think he was a tad surprised at my reaction and yes before you ask I would have dropped him but for the intervention of the teachers.

Ours was an odd one. Traveller descent. Once thieved some money from somewhere, won a fortune in the bookies and disappeared to the seaside for days. Scruffy, mumbling, but he was also top of the class in French, Latin, English and Maths, without trying.

Leavesden Green Junior school, circa 1978. Stephen Pritchard and Robert Blakeney were the school bullies. One day, they picked on me, both of them. Even at that age, I was a born coward; a lover, not a fighter. But from somewhere came this ninja/Chuck Norris skill. I kicked one of them in the stomach and punched the other in the face. They backed off and never came near me again.

I was 10 years old, but felt 10' tall that day.

Craig Green/Greenhall/Greenwell

He was known as Greenie.

Actually a pretty decent chap once you got to know him - but most definately not a person to make an enemy of (or even just mildly upset) at school.

A classmate of mine said a few things about him behind his back in the third year - and got a beating. Greenie told him to remove his glasses first - which he didn't, so he got a beating anyway, and smashed specs to go with it.

From memory, it was two black eyes, a broken cheekbone, and a broken nose.

There were others at my school (we are talking a comprehensive with 2,500 puils) that were far, far nastier - but saved most of their evil deeds to outside of school.....

The big school bully in my year was killed (stabbed) when he was about 18 years. (he would have been 40+ now. He likely picked on someone he shouldnt have.

The papers had stories from his mother saying how he was such a nice lad and never got into any trouble. Thats the day i stopped beleving what i read in the papers, LOL

Despite being a grammar school we had our fair share of people who were, to put it bluntly, thick as st. One of them did meet an untimely end a few years ago when he was stabbed to death. Ok I wasn't happy to hear it, but hey, pick on enough people and you'll eventually find the wrong one.........

My form had most of the school bullies in.

When we reached the final two terms in the 5th year, all the bullies for the whole year, were pulled out of their classes and forms, sat in one classroom and were taught by a couple of teachers for the rest of the 2 terms. Essentially, they were so troublesome and distracting that they were screwing beginning to become a problem for the whole year and the incoming exam season.

The teachers who taught them apparently did nothing. They could do whatever they wanted during their lessons and when May started for exams, they were all signed off never to return.

As I said, most of them came from my form originally.

Met up with a wise guy from my French class about 3 years later who gave me the run down of what happened to Class 666 in the following 3 years after leaving.

1, the worst, was already serving 5 years at HMP (or something daft) for armed robbery
2, were on remand for separate charges of kiddie fiddling and pedophile offences.
2 or 3, had already started in earnest on their criminal careers for assault, shoplifting, mugging, with one on remand for burglary.

The rest of Class 666 was well known to the Police and made up of the rest of the crime wave in our bit of the country.

I have met other people from that school, and when you tell them what form and year you were in, are generally full of awe that you survived it. Our original form was infamous.

had one at my school that got kept down a few years and as such was the biggest thickest kid.... used to find it funny beating up other kids at my secondary school.

Saw him 5 years ago.... begging outside of the local train station back home looking a lot thinner and like a smack head.... some people waste their lives...

Few at my school. Hardest one I can think of is a guy called Butch. Built and very, very strong. He's a friend of mine (for some reason people never seem to want to fight me, but want to be my friend?), so I was never scared of him. But I would never, ever want to fight him.

He's beaten up pikeys in pubs ten years older than him, and I've never seen him lose a fight. He can punch harder than I kick, and once had a fight with a man with a samurai sword outside a party we went to! Mental.

We had a few bullies - fortunately, they never picked on me...

Anyway, talking of cumuppance (sp) - one managed to set fire to himself and his bks after mucking about with an old motorbike, petrol and then deciding to light a tab and going up in flames. He did survive.

Same lad was with another of the school bullies/layabouts.... they decided to climb onto an old factory roof... this other lad wasn't so lucky...fell through the roof and killed himself.

I have to say I didn't lose much sleep over it.

Sorry, diverting a little from topic, but there were a number of offspring of really sadistic parents in the various schools I was sent to and slung out of... I remember a girl called Inderjit, and at another, we had an Andrew Gas, a Kamiljit and a Richard Head. I kid you not!

Its funny how everyone who gets stabbed was "the nicest person you could wish to meet"
