Right boys (and girls) new over here so go easy!!

The good lady has decided today that she needs to change to a smaller more economical car and mentioned that she has always fancied an Alfa!! coming from someone that doesnt "do" cars is ok by me,but me know nothing about your lots chosen brand;) dont really want to spend much more than about £7/8k, what will you get from the stealers for this much ??? what do i need to know etc..any advice welcome

Thanks a lot.

For £7K you'll get a good condition car! I friend of mine sold his 147 recently for £4K and that was in very good condition.

For that money you could also look at the 156 - slightly bigger and if you went for the JTD it'll be pretty frugal too. I've got a V6 156, you can pick those up for a song, and the money you save can pay for the fuel - I worked out that it would take around 3 years before a diesel would pay back!

I think the 159 maybe a little out of the price range, although not sure now, you may be in luck smile

I reckon with a bit of shopping around you'll get a good one for £5-6K. Make sure it's got all the useful paperwork, don't presume an Alfa dealership knows best, there are some independants out there that put dealers to shame. Best bet is to go for one that you think has been well looked after. On the 1.6 and 2.0 TS engines I would push for a cambelt change if you're buying from a dealer on anything with mileage greater than 35K.

Happy hunting and please post when you've found one

Recently bought a 57 147jtd for a smidge over £8000 with 10000 miles on. Full leather and OEM spoked 17 inch wheels. Superb
