What did you use before Google?

Good evening all. Reading a little of the When did you first hear about the internet? thread got me thinking... What did I use before Google?

I really can't remember!

Soon after I first started using the Internet (1996-ish I think) a friend told me about Google and I've been using it ever since, sadly I now use it nearly every day of my life due to working in IT!

What did we use before it? Have the evil people at Google brainwashed me? I would make a poll, but I can only remember 3 other search engines from around that time: Yahoo, Alta Vista (for Babelfish!) and Lycos. I'm pretty sure I didn't use any of those as a main search engine.

Apologies if this has been covered before, I did search for it!

dog pile, alta vista, and a few others but that was in the late 90's doing uni research, on the subject does anyone remember Barnes and Noble competing with amazon?

Webcrawler and Alta Vista, started using the net in '95 0r '96 on a massive 14kbps dial up lol

Alta Vista cos I worked for digital and they wrote it.
Webcrawler cos it used to find stuff that nothing else did.
