Wanted to see the new XFR and for that matter the styling tweaks to the new XKR at the earliest oppurtunity, so managed to get to the Chicago Autoshow this week. First impressions, it looks truely fabulous. thumbup

XFR

'R seats very comfy and supportive. Like the two-tone leather.

If white doesn't do it for you..........

The Bonneville XFR - 225MPH

The XKR...

The exhaust pipes are far larger than the out going 4.2ltr. Is it me or have they got rid of the huge rear silencer? I hope the noise they produce matches the bore!

Although the new alloys are gorgeous, they suit the XFR beautifully, but not sure they don't look too heavy for the XKR?

Just need to drive them now. wink

Great pics!

XFR - Really starting to tempt me (as a bargain bucket buy in about 5 years time). I just wish they'd lose that tacky leaper on the boot and is the bonnet/bumper shutline really as bad as the pictures suggest? If so, it wouldn't be the first Jag displayed at a motorshow with terrible fitting bonnets/bumpers unfortunately...

XKR - Looks great although the exhausts seem to be too low which makes the back look very tall. I'd rather they be raised a bit perhaps with some sort of simple diffuser passing underneath.

All minor points which in no way put me off the cars. biggrin

The 'Leaper' is all that will be on Jaguars in future.

There is a piece in this months Octane about the new engine and it's direct injection system.
Which goes some way to explain the jump in power and the drop in consumption (and therefore emissions)

Sorry, when I see this car around my town, it looks like some Jap luxury box (Acura, Lexus, etc), not a Jaguar. The XK looks like a Jag, the XF looks like everything else.

The new Caddy CTA has a direct injection in its V6; DI does make a difference!

OK Diesels are inherently more fuel efficient than petrol engines, particularly at low loads, but a lot of the advantages that they've shown in recent years have been down the technology wrapped around them, things like direct injection. When the same technology is used in petrol engines, a lot of the fuel efficiency differences will go. They also allow better control over the mixture and so allow better power for the same size and fuel consumption

(fuel consumption == emissions)

Have to agree... I'm sure the XF is a great car, but it looks like a Lexus/Mazda/Mondeo/whatever...
And that XFR is even worse! Again a great car I bet, but it looks almost worthy of Barryboys with all that extra kit on it. And the interior... acres of leather & wood... err... tacky plastic and red seats?
Can anyone really say it looks better than an X308 XJR? I don't think so!

I am certain it is a great car, but one buys a Jaguar because it is obviously a Jaguar. Otherwise, pay far less and get a Lexus.
