Wedge Dash Replacement
Discussion
Sorry if this has already been covered, but I'm fairly new to PH, and have only had my TVR Wedge for a few months. Superb car, and totally in love, despite losing a wheel hub at high speed on M4, and a few niggly problems (electrics......)
The car is absolutely gorgeous apart from the dashboard which really lets it down. The veneer is peeling away and looks hideous. Does anyone know where I can find a more modern replacement dash, as personally, I think the wooden one doesn't suit the car anyway... Cheers!

Your not the first to lose a wheel hub!
I need to change my dash and am going to recover in leather to match the rest of the interior, as I feel the wood is rather dated.
Thought about that option. Car is electric blue with cream and blue leather interior, so I reckon that would look stunning. Are you doing your dash yourself or can you recommend someone?I need to change my dash and am going to recover in leather to match the rest of the interior, as I feel the wood is rather dated.
I recovered mine in the same vinyl as my seats. It looks good as a temporary fix but I prefer the veneered look which I intend to do later.
As a tip - make sure you use some scrim foam 1/8 inch before covering your dash otherwise it will look naff. The foam gives it some body and a bit of depth IMO.

A post I posted a few years back may be of interest:

Rather than the wood effect, you can also get carbon effect which could suit the wedge if well done.
Also, have a look at Matt-Mans dash (pics somewhere on this forum). He's painted it the same as the body colour and it looks very nice.
Theres also the option of removing the veneer and attacking the backing plate with some 800 wet and dry and then sealing with lacquer or a good wax and having the brushed ally effect.

I'm a bit of an enthusiast (reads geek), and I remade my door veneer strips cos the old ones were poo
:

The original steel strips were never veneered - they were painted to make them look a bit like burr walnut. I made strips of mahogany with stainless fixings embedded, and veneered them with part burr walnut, finished with Rustins plastic coating.
Looks great. I might re-engineer the rest of the wood if it bothers me. The TVR instrument panel isnt quite the Wilson Pickett.
