Wheel Spacers for 996

Is it worth using wheel spacers on a 1999 996 with 18" turbo twists ?????

I've heard that 20mm for the rear and 16mm for the front fill the arches out nicely.

Anybody had any experience of the spacer type with extra long wheel bolts ???

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
