How to clean my car cover?

Hi I have an Elemental Outdoor Car cover for my elise, but its quite dirty so I dont want to put it on in case it scratches the paint.

Does anyone know the best and safest way to clean it? Will a cold hand wash cycle in the washing machine be ok?

My dust cover gets a normal wash in the machine but thats thinner material. Id just stick it in the laundry sink, soak it in warm water and handwash it with a little bit of soap where its needed. Rinse it then hang it on the washing line and go from there.

I took my outdoor cover to the laundrette.Turned it inside out, so the algae wasn't visible.Women there just said put it on a 30 deg wash and it was done in 20 mins, then cool tumble dried.Did shrink a bit, but put it back on as soon as I got home.Didn't dry totally in the tumble either. I will probably wash it in the summer again and then leave it on the line at home to dry.Softened the cover and not as green any more.Mine was a covercraft outdoor cover.
