Does anyone know of any good resources for free 'background music'? It's mainly to be used to go under interviews and it's not being re-sold (free to view) so not sure how that might affect copyright laws?

Any ideas or starting points appreciated as I can't be arsed actually writing something crap to just loop but equally can't be arsed paying!

Thanks.

Thanks buddy - but surely even though it's free to download you can't use it in a production?? Or is it really too good to be true?

Check out Moby's site. He has a load of stuff that you can ask his permission to use.
Your use may not be in his criteria but it is worth a look.

Not free for commercial use I'm afraid. (Actually, I'm pleased or it'd be soon putting me out of work!)

That's what I thought! I'm assuming I'm on a hiding to nothing given that on principle, I disagree with the idea for precisely the reasons you give but since that this is just no-budget fluff to go out online, it wouldn't be cost effective or even worth the composer's while getting out of bed for...

Oh well, random 4 bar loop from Reason it is then hehe

hmm, didn't read the creative commons stuff correctly, apologies.

Not sure exactly what kind of music you are after, but this guy has no fixed fee, you just pay what you feel is appropriate!

Depends what you are looking for - but there are loads of sites where you can download individual tracks for commercial use for a one-off fee - usually under £30 per track.

You will need to wade through a lot of dross to find what you want, but there is some good stuff for peanuts out there.

Personally, I like GetCarter's stuff - but I think he is slightly out of budget for a lot of the stuff that we do!

Will dig out some links to sites when I am back in the office.
