I think the type R is a bit too busy for me, I like the Speed 12 conversion out of the bunch. I'm thinking any conversion where the indicators are moved means you could potentially duct air to the brakes, but I've never tried to work the logistics out.

Steve.

Sorry, none of it works for me. Loses the out and out sports car (tweeds, wind in hair, pipe and scarf) and replaces it with a Japcrapness. No offence to those of us PHer's that have done it - After all it's your car and good job we don't all like the same thing.

Yep I do, can I ask how long ago did you have it done?

Are there any signs of paint sinking or any tell tale marks?

Also, if it's not too nosey how much did it cost?

Thanks

Tim

Tim,

Ta 4 that.
Had it done in Aug.
Front lights / rear afterburners / clear indicators / mirrors blended, (smoothed off to get rid of the wind noise from the o rings as standard) and the obvious front end respray. They reglassed my bonnet mounts FOC.
Cost for it all £ 1800.00 + VAT.

Some small issues with the paint taking properly on the mirrors, but nothing that cant be dealt with by the good lads in Bristol.

That sounds like quite a good deal. I'm fascinated by the mirror bit, what did they do, fill in the fins smooth off and respray?

I can't say i've noticed too much wind noise but I guess I've only had the roof off a couple of times as I haven't had the car that long.

Any pics of the mirrors?

i vote for the Type R version too - I think it compliments the rear facelifted pods nicely!

Apologies for continuing the hijack - yes, followed your lead and Peninsula sorted the damaged bit only. Very pleased. Will do a front end respray in a couple of years to pick up the other little stone chips.

Tim,

Sorry for the delayed answer, havent been on for a while.

Mirrors - exactly as you describe. Saw them on a mint Chim 500 that was heading for Le Mans earlier this year. So i thought i'd get it done.
Will take some pics and post them if i can work out how.

They all look good, but I like the way the car looks as Wheeler intended, but am open to change.

So is there a kit out there were you can change to the newer look, but change back if you want to. This would mean that it would just bolt in and as the orginal has a shut line this would not be a problem for me or if I am right a lot of Chimaera owners.

So can someone please tell me is there another kit available that just bolts in?
Thanks,
Colin L
