Hi everyone, just joined this group after 4 years of S2 ownership. Didn't realise there was such an active S series community as most of the TVR e-mail list seems concerned with later cars.

So, I have a question.

Does anybody know what the brake servo and master cylinder on an 89 S2 are from?

Hi Andrew - wellcome to the clan

I've got an early S3 and I'm sure they are the same, SAAB 9000?

Johno would know as I'm sure I remember him replacing his.

Saab 9000 as detailed.

I replaced my Servo from a scrapped 9000 from a local Saab specialist. Due to the location of the Servo on the 9000 they remain in excellent condition for years and years so it is worth taking the scrappy route.

The master cylinder is the same aswell although for this I bought new.

Whatever you do do not pay Saab prices.....I think they quoted me something like £175 for the master cylinder alone. I got mine from Partco for around £50.

My servo was well knacked and in fact was causing the engine to not run properly so it made a huge difference to the car when I changed it. It was this fault that actually had evryone baffled for 3 months and two inlet manifold gasket changes !!!!

Cheers

Thanks for the info. There is a Partco branch in Harrogate about 5 miles form where I live so I'll try there for new ones.

Tried the Partco branch nearby and they could do a master cylinder for ~£100 but they don't do the servo. So tried breakers and got servo and master cylinder off 1989 Saab 9000 from Fenton's near Cambridge who checked the part numbers of my master cylinder etc. £72 for the pair, delivered next day and 1 month warranty. Both are in good nick and fitted perfectly, all seems well and the car will be back on the road this weekend after the winter, can't wait.
