Stone Chips

is it relatively easy for a garage to 'touch up' stone chips? (i haven't got a reflex colour).

Has anyone had this done? What's the cost?

Depends on the size / depth / distribution. It might be worth waiting until you have a few more and then look at a front-end respray.

Mine's been armourfended (other manufacturers offer similar stuff) and this seems to repel the worst of them - obviously not worth doing unless the paintwork underneath is perfect.

Mentioning armourfend usually starts a debate about the pros and cons, people saying that it 'uglifies' the car etc. etc. Personally, I can't notice it unless I'm really looking for it and knowing that it will shrug of 90% of stonechips means that it's well worth it IMO.

yeah, i do have the armour fend all over the car, but i've noticed on the bonnet above the armourfend there's a few little white dots appearing.

(shame they can't just armourfend the whole thing, you'd never see the lines and it'd never scratch!)

I had a front end respray when i bought my Tamora, 9000 miles later and it is "pebble dashed" A waste of time and money, it will be chipped again in a few thousand miles.

I use Halfrauds touch up paint. They have a very fine pin like nib for touching up just the small chipped area you need, rather than a dirty great paint brush.

A toothpick works very well too

Precisely why I thought Paintshield was a no brainer. As DarkMark says you cannot see it and after over 6k miles there's not a stone chip in sight
