Let’s have examples of mispronunciations and inappropriate use of words that irritate you

Here are a few to start off with:

"yous", pronounced like 'Use' as the plural of “you”!
'somefink' or 'nuffink.'
'Axed' instead of 'asked'
'off of' rather than 'from'
'Gentermen' instead of 'Gentlemen'
'Hospickle' instead of 'Hospital'
'skelington'
'certifkit'
'pacifically' instead of 'specifically'

Have pity on me, that is my surname. Have just totally given up bothering to correct people now, it was driving me in to an early grave...

ETA- My surname is Birmingham, but obviously gets hideasly contracted and mispronounced like the above....

Now, annoyingly, included in the dictionary as a genuine alternative I believe.

Thats it then...Use a word enough and soon it will become the norm. Look forward to the whole dictionary converting to text speak

I get 'pacifically' from two colleagues - both highly qualified and well educated professionals - all the time.

I also get 'con pooter' instead of 'computer' from one of our Directors, though that's more of an accent thing than a real mispronunciation.

Also, people who say: 'it's all relevant' when what they mean is: 'it's all relative.'
