I don't think it's a lack of ambition, they probably know that it's a classic intro theme that everyone wants to hear again. Bit like the them to Grandstand.

Whilst it think that stack is wrong about The Chain (I mean test match cricket just wouldn't be the same without the old theme tune would it, nor is F1 without The Chain) I am afraid I am not 100% convinced Murray is still on it enough. I have heard him a number of times over the last few years and I'm afraid that whilst the desire is obviously still there, and the voice is mostly intact, he really isn't the Murray of 5, let alone 10, years ago.There comes a time when everyone should consider if they should stop when they are asked, "Why did you quit?" rather than waiting to be asked "Why don't you quit?"
His new role should be less demanding of him though so I will reserve final judgement, but I am glad they haven't fallen into the trap (or he turned the offer down) of making him lead race commentator.

Remove yourself from PH. The Chain is the only choice for the BBC F1 theme tune, changing it would be like using some Puff Diddly 50 pence M&Ms rap crap to replace MOTD's music.I hope this lack of ambition is not representative of their new coverage ..
Some things are just meant to be left alone. Nobody can call themself a true F1 fan if they don't get a shiver down their spine when THAT bass solo starts.

With all this talk of the return of The Chain, I played it loud in the car on the way to work this morning and yes that shiver was there, unfortunately so was the heavy right foot and the camera van

The Chain is as much about F1 as are the italian red cars - history can teach you a lot - as the last 15 years of ITV have shown how NOT to do F1

As for refreshing the coverage, ITV "refreshed" it nearly every season - didn't make it any better.
