Ah sorry Melbourne is shut for a month due Easter!
Drew SS....Kings Cross would be in Sydney!
Not sure what dates you are going to be in Melbourne but if it is the final of the pre-season cup 13/3/09 you are going to see at the MCG...they have moved it to the Telstra Dome or AAMI stadium. There is a big benefit concert on at the MCG on the Saturday night 14/3/09 so the Footy is on Friday night at the dome I think.

Link to concerts, there is one at the SCG in Sydeny on the same night. www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/coldplay-kings-of-leon-to-play-aussie-bushfire-1003944299.story
Guessing you are too late for this....

Not as big as Farnborough but generally the biggest one in Oz, except the occasional RAAF ones.
Next
www.grandprix.com.au/
That will get you to the end of March.
Stuff to do generally is the normal stuff like Great Ocean Road, Healsville ( might have to check there as it was close to the bushfires) Phillip Island Penguins, Ballarat. In the city. Shop on Chapel/Church street. There is a couple of tall buildings to go up. Rialto and the other one where the floor goes transparent when you get in there. Waste your money at the Casino!
Lygon street, Southbank and Docklands for food. Does have a Chinatown too, Little Burke street. Pretty sure Brunswick street is another one.
If you can get to Adelaide...normally pretty difficult.

Thats the one, MCG! I will be there on the 27th. Ive got an invite to the GP but we're not that interested, ive been to a few now and the hospitaity is usually more interesting than the racing!
Cheers for the other suggestions, I will look out for China town. A geezer im going with is Irish, are there any 'Irish' pubs there? Eating and drinking are the usual priorities!
Bring me back plenty of these... I bought a few whilst I was out there last year.

Hello all,
I am just back from Oz! Had a sweet time, got sunburt, drank beer and tasted Kangaroo! Cheers to motomk for suggesting the Great Ocean Road. We hired a phat V8, ok it was a Ford Falcon XR8 but that was all they had left because we left it to the last minute. For the record the interior was poor, upholstery was cheap, not well equipped and basically a dull ride. Give me a Holden any day.
