My 500 is on an early P and as such the buttons for the doors just behind the B post. Would it be relatively easy to remove them and replace with buttons under the wing mirrors as in the later model, I could even use some nice aluminium surface mount micro switch ones? IS it a mechanical mechanism on the old ones rather than an electronic/solenoid on the later varients?

I guess one of the major costs would be the necessary respray to cover where the old door buttons were.

Hmm, could this be a tie in with nice new lights from TVR bodyshop I wonder.

The thing that would worry me is unless you go the whole hog and fit the 'emergancy' door opener as well you could find yourself locked out, during those flat battery/dodgy electrics moments, but saying that Chimaeras aren't exactly too taxing to 'break in' to anyway
