Hi guys,

Bought my 1.8 Zetec with 92,000 miles on in Decemeber, not got much money to service it so was wondering what I should prioritise?

It was last serviced Jan 08 at 81,000 miles, and the cambelt was done at 50,000.

Could also do with new wipers (Wanted to put some PIAA's on it...)

I'm a relative newb to cars so am not sure what'll need doing? Air Filter? Oil/Filter? Other fluids?

I'm tempted to book it into a garage for a 'full service' but I'm not sure whether they'll use genuine or cheap pattern parts and what exactly a full service consists of...

If you want to do it yourself, just give it an oil & oil filter change, check how much is left on the disks n pads and you'll be fine! and it will only cost you a few quid!

Think I'll invest in a Haynes manual

I can do oil changes and stuff myself, but anything more complicated I'd leave up to the garage as well, it has FSH as well that'd be a shame to stop...

I service my Focus and just add into the service book when ive changed the oil and use the reciept for parts to prove it smile

I also have a MK1 focus, looking at doing the service myself Not seen anything about Gearbox oil how do you check to level and what oil is recommended.

If you've got an IB5 gearbox it's a sealed unit and you have to pull a drive shaft to drain the oil, I believe...
