Out of Warranty

I cant remember what number xbox im currently on (prob no.4/5) but its developed the fault whereby it wont play the xbox games anymore. Tells me i need to put the disc in an Xbox360.

Unfortunately its past its 1 year warranty date. Luckily i have a spare box for these exact instances but does nayone know how much they charge to fix this disc issue or is it best giving it a go myself?

Out of warranty bks. I'd be pushing for it to be fixed FOC as Microsoft know they've made a product that isn't reliable.

sounds like dvd failure....

if its out of warranty, you need a techy to dump the key out of the faulty drive, buy a new 360 drive, write the key to the new drive (spoof firmware if different make of drive) and you are good to go.

the drives and system board are matched pairs, do not throw away old dvd drive without getting the key out of it

Actually doing this violates the computer misuse act and is highly illegal. If the device is out of waranty you need to purchase a new unit; you may or may not be able to transfer your purchases to the new unit; repurchase those which can not be transfered.

You're now good to go.

repairing it does ?

You dont have to flash it back with hacked firmware, just change the key.
