Hi all. Driving to and from work yesterday the battery light is starting to flash intermittently.

Mainly under load when accelerating hard, implying the belt is slipping under load at higher revs.

Nothing untoward apart from that.

This morning the battery light stayed on when the car was started. Higher revs didnt coax it to go out, so I left the Elise at home.

Came home this evening, started the Elise and battery light once again stayed on.

Several prods of the throttle and out the light went.

There is no whine to suggest the belt is slipping?

Alternator?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Car is an S2 K-series 2002 sport 135.

Thanks in advance

I had exactly the same symptoms and at the time Scuffer's suggestion that the alternator was on its way out proved to be completely correct. I ended up having to replace alternator and battery in the end as once the alternator was all fixed, the battery just would not hold a charge.
