Would an Ultima be in 'Production' or 'Sports Libre'?

depends on the modifications and the build.

if it was standard, had roof lining, carpets etc, i think you could get it in production though most sprint/hillclimbs have a kit car type of class which is for cars that are built in numbers less than 1000 per year (or something like that) each event may differ dependant upon the championships...

As I read I.70, an Ultima can go into Roadgoing specialist production if they have produced 20 chassis in a year. The MSA should know the answer - I've never seen anyone competing an Ultima. If they don't qualify then Libre it is.

blue book regulations for roadgoing in Section I said:

70. Cars must compete in an event in a road legal condition.
Description
(a) Road-Going Series Production Cars
Saloons and Sports Cars produced in quantities of not less than 1000 per annum.
(b) Road-Going Specialist Production Cars
Cars with a minimum annual production of 20 chassis which do not qualify as Road-Going Series Production Cars.

unless it meets minimum production figures (for a mass or limited production car) it would be considered a kit car imho. having said that, with a log book and the correct safety gear it could be sports libre too

Ultima have produced "production" cars, as well as kits, though it's also been considered a Sports Racing Car too......

You need to get an official clarification from the series organisers.

so few organisers run that class though, its usually road going production, modified production and sports libre though from experience, they tryto accomodate people wherever they can and not just lump awkward cars into libre.

i havent ever seen "road going specilaist production" on an entry list however so i think it will be in a kit car class.
